Accessibility

Traveling by public transport

The Climate March starts and ends within walking distance of The Hague Central Station. Plan your journey in advance and allow for extra travel time, as it can be busy around the march, especially at nearby stations and stops. We will keep everyone informed through our channels if there are any major train disruptions or other changes.

Traveling by car

The march starts at the Malieveld, where parking is limited. Find out in advance where you can park, for example, in the parking garage under the Malieveld. We ask everyone to come by public transport or bicycle as much as possible to minimize crowds and parking problems.

Do you want to load and unload at the Malieveld? Please contact logistiek@klimaatmars.nl, otherwise, we cannot guarantee access to the field.

Traveling by bike

Great that you’re coming by bike! There are several bike racks next to the Malieveld, but a larger bike shed is available at the station if you want to be sure of a spot.

Traveling together?

Groups will depart from various locations for The Hague on October 26th. Join a travel-together event or start your own from your hometown. You can find all travel-together events here.

Save the Children’s Kids’ Corner

To the right of the stage in the corner of the Malieveld is a Save the Children tent called “Kinderhoek” (Kids’ Corner). There, children and young people can draw or write their climate wishes on dream boards. You can also get wristbands for your children where you can write your phone number in case you get separated.

Facilities

Accessibility

Near the stage, a designated area will be set aside for wheelchair users and those with visual or hearing impairments. A sign language interpreter will be present on stage. Chairs will also be available for those who cannot stand for long periods. In case of rain, the Malieveld can be muddy. Ramps will be in place to allow wheelchair users to reach the stage area. Please arrive via Boorlaan, past the restrooms. The ramps begin there.

The march route is 3 kilometers long and easily accessible for wheelchair users.

There will be no LED screen on the field. However, a livestream of the stage program will be provided for those who cannot attend due to physical limitations.

Restrooms

Restrooms will be available on the Malieveld. Some are wheelchair accessible. Check the Hoge Nood app for more accessible restrooms along the route.

Low-Stimulus Block

There will be a low-stimulus block. The low-stimulus block has a different meeting point and is located at the back of the march, where there should be less noise. There will also be no loud music and little to no chanting. You can join this Signal group to let us know you’d like to use this option.

Livestream

A livestream of the stage program will be available, allowing people to participate from home. Leave your email address here, and we’ll send you a link to the livestream in due time.

Safety

The Climate March is registered with the municipality, and we are in contact with both the municipality of The Hague and the police to ensure the march runs smoothly.

It is a peaceful march. Experienced coordinators, event organizers, first aiders, and a large team of volunteers will be present, all committed to ensuring a pleasant demonstration. We expect everything to proceed safely, as with previous editions of the Climate March. The Climate March is also suitable for grandparents and young children to participate.

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you still wish to leave the march early, this is always possible. For your own comfort, we recommend bringing appropriate clothing and plenty of water and snacks. Want to read more about safety and other frequently asked questions? Visit the FAQ.

Blocks

To showcase the diversity of the Climate March participants, various groups will participate – groups of people who join from their own perspective or theme. This way, they draw extra attention to a specific issue within climate justice, specific victims of climate change, or express a united voice on behalf of, for example, an organization or professional group.

The groups will march at the front of the march and will agree on a meeting point beforehand. You can join a group (as a group or individually) that resonates with you, or that represents a theme you find important. This way, you’ll always be surrounded by like-minded people! It’s often helpful to register in advance – you can find all the groups and contact details via the button below.

Prefer to participate without a group? That’s certainly possible too.

Tips

1. Peaceful

Respect each other and keep the atmosphere positive. We demonstrate without violence against people and/or property.

2. Solidarity

We stand together, not against each other.

3. Respectful

We listen to each other and speak to each other with respect and compassion.

4. No Hate

Racism, antisemitism, sexism, Islamophobia, homophobia, or other forms of discrimination are not welcome at this march.

5. Diversity

We offer space for different ideas within our shared ideal: climate justice.

6. Leave No Trace

We are demonstrating for a cleaner planet, so we will not leave any items or litter on the field or along the route.

Prepare for any weather! This is the Netherlands, so be prepared for all kinds of weather. Bring a raincoat and an umbrella without sharp points. You don’t want anyone to accidentally get pricked while walking!

Family-friendly! If you’re coming with young children, don’t forget the stroller. It can be a long walk, especially for little legs. Save the Children will provide activities for children during the stage program on the Malieveld.

Travel smart! Use your bike or public transport to get to The Hague. Plan your route in advance to avoid crowds.

Equipment! Comfortable shoes are a must. Also consider a colorful outfit or a fun hat to stand out and enhance the atmosphere. And don’t forget your protest sign with a creative slogan!

Signs full of passion! Create a creative sign with an inspiring, catchy slogan. Extra tip: write or draw something on the back of your protest sign. That way, the protesters behind you will also see why you’re out on the streets!

Stay hydrated & nourished! Bring a reusable water bottle and snacks.

Buddy system! Bring friends or family. Everything is more fun and effective together! Coming alone? There are all sorts of blocks you can join, so you’ll always have like-minded people around you.

Make yourself heard! Bring a megaphone, drums, horns, or bells. Join in with the chants, sing, and chant. It all adds to the energy and sends a strong message.

Be well-informed! Make sure you know what to expect by reading the frequently asked questions. Also, read up on climate policy and justice – the more you know about climate, the more effective your message. Share your knowledge and inspire others.

Share the experience! Use social media to show the world you’re there. The more visibility, the more support, the stronger our message.
