Want to join the Climate March as a block?

To showcase the diversity of the Climate March participants, various blocks will participate. This way, they draw extra attention to a specific issue or theme within climate justice, specific victims of climate change, or represent a united voice on behalf of, for example, an organization or professional group.

Klimaatmars 2021

Guidelines for blocks

  • Anyone who supports the message and demands of the Climate March can form a block.
  • The message of each block must be clearly linked to climate and climate justice.
  • It is not necessary for all organizations or participants to agree on every point, as long as the shared message remains intact.
  • Blocks that contradict the demands and values of the Climate March will not be facilitated.

What does participation as a block entail?

Accepted blocks:

  • are listed on the Climate March website, with a name (such as Nature Block or Peace Block) and a short description, so that other individuals or (related) organizations can join;
  • receive practical information through our mailings;
  • can march with their own flags, slogans, and other recognizable elements;
  • are invited to send representatives to march behind the joint banner in front.

The Frontline block

Climate justice is about solidarity. That’s why the Frontline Block is leading the march, directly behind the joint banner. Representatives from the various blocks will march within this block, focusing on groups hardest hit by the consequences of the climate crisis. This includes the youth.

Political parties

Political parties are welcome to participate as a block, provided they endorse the call and demands of the Climate March. However, we ask that they refrain from using party-political flags or banners around the stage.

Register a block

You can register a group using the form below. The organization will assess your registration based on the guidelines.

Once a group is accepted, it will be added to the overview at the bottom of this page. This way, you can see which groups will be participating in the Climate March. You can choose to include contact information so that interested parties can join your group directly.

The world is in crisis: habitats are disappearing, species are becoming extinct, and people are losing their homes. The government is doing far too little to address this crisis. That’s why we’re taking action. We demand that the government take responsibility and do what’s necessary.

The climate crisis is inextricably linked to inequality. Women and marginalized groups in the Global South are hit hardest by climate change, yet they contribute the least to it. That’s why ActionAid Netherlands is once again forming the Feminists for Climate Justice bloc this year, together with Both ENDS, CARE Netherlands, Hivos, Simavi, Stem op een Vrouw (Vote for a Woman), WECF, and WO=MEN. Because only by moving away from our patriarchal system and focusing on feminist solutions can we truly tackle the climate crisis head-on.

Join WISE in the anti-nuclear bloc during the climate march. Nuclear energy is too expensive, too late, and too polluting to make a meaningful contribution to the energy transition. It’s a distraction from what really needs to be done. Let’s use the billions currently earmarked for this purpose for real and just climate solutions!

Weapons are a climate problem. Weapons and militarism account for at least 5.5% of all greenhouse gas emissions. This is more than the annual emissions of all of Russia. The same wealthy industrialized countries that are causing the climate crisis have the highest military expenditures. Meanwhile, they pay little compensation to the poorest countries hardest hit by the climate crisis. Money needed for climate policy is spent on weapons. Conflicts should be resolved, not fought out. If we divide the world into power blocs, we cannot solve global problems like the climate crisis.
