Nuclear energy is a distraction from what needs to be done. The billions currently sitting idle must be used immediately for just climate policy and climate solutions that work today. Nuclear energy slows down the energy transition and stands in the way of renewable energy. It is time for this government to realize that nuclear energy is a dead end and to scrap these plans once and for all.
Instead of taking decisive action against military escalation and the climate crisis, world leaders are rapidly militarizing. These investments in militarization come at the expense of social services, climate policy, and peace—even though it has long been known that military activity accounts for at least 5.5% of global emissions. Social movements are joining forces to campaign for a peaceful and just transition. It is time to divest from war—invest in a just transition!

Air pollution, wildfires, extreme weather, food and water scarcity… the climate crisis is already claiming lives, hitting vulnerable groups in the Netherlands and around the world the hardest.

Extinction Rebellion NL
Leading the bloc is our XR boat, “Amersfoort aan Zee,” bearing a banner that reads “Stop fossiele subsidies”. Accompanying it are many rebels with flags and slogans, as well as the XR Block Brass Band.
In this bloc, we invite all Buddhists and Buddhist Sanghas to participate in the Climate March. As eco-bodhisattvas, we wish to spread mindfulness, compassion, healing, and non-violence to protect one another, all living beings, and the Earth.
As Buddhists, we stand for a collective approach to climate and environmental issues and advocate for global social justice.
During the march, we walk together in silent mindfulness, united with one another and with Mother Earth.
Before the march, we will hold a silent outdoor sitting meditation. Amidst the storm of the world, we form a heart of silent compassion. Everyone is invited to join (please bring something to sit on)—even if you plan to join a different contingent after the meditation.

Team Schoon (Team Clean) ensures that the entire route of the Climate March is left clean. “In practice, we mainly pick up litter that was already there,” says Ivo Rodermans. “We also walk among the crowd with trash bags so that people can easily dispose of cigarette butts and any other waste.”

Nature and the climate are inextricably linked. The use of fossil fuels is causing the Earth to warm, placing natural areas worldwide under increasing pressure. The serious consequences are being felt in the Netherlands, too. Drought, prolonged heat, and extreme weather are affecting forests, dunes, heathlands, and wetlands, putting birds, plants, and other wildlife under strain. At the same time, nature is one of our strongest allies in tackling the climate crisis. Forests, peatlands, coastal ecosystems, and seas store vast amounts of carbon, help retain water during droughts, and offer better protection against the impacts of extreme weather.
A healthy natural environment is essential not only for plants and animals but also for a livable future for humanity. That is why nature conservation organizations are joining the Climate March.

AI has become an integral part of our society, yet its impact on the climate is significant. New AI models are trained in data centers that consume vast amounts of electricity—typically generated from fossil fuels—as well as huge quantities of water. And this is happening at a time when droughts are becoming more frequent and prolonged.
PauseAI calls for an immediate pause in the further development of the most advanced AI systems until it can be done in a demonstrably safe, responsible, and democratic manner. Such a pause would benefit the climate: less electricity, less fossil fuel used to generate that power, and reduced water consumption. Let’s not allow AI to destroy the climate for the sake of profits for a handful of tech companies!

The climate crisis is a crisis for children. Children are hit hard by climate change, even though they have contributed the least to it and will live with the consequences the longest. At the same time, they have hardly any say in the decisions that shape their future. Will you join the protest with children?
Save the Children is setting up a space for parents, caregivers, and children next to the monument on Dam Square. Here, children can make their own signs expressing their wishes to carry during the march. We are also handing out wristbands with space for a phone number, making it easy for children and parents to find each other again.

The doors of the Dominicuskerk at Spuistraat 12 will open at 12:15 PM. We warmly welcome you and hope you’ll join us to start the day—whether with your parents, grandparents, or guardians.
We have a stage where a host will be present every fifteen minutes, inviting you to say something, sing, or read aloud. It’s an OPEN STAGE, so it’s first come, first served. Young people will be there to do face painting, and we’ll be making mini protest signs. You can use the restroom (for free), and we’ll have some lemonade for you—just bring your own cup.
At 12:55 PM, we’ll head outside and walk to the front of the march to join other young people from FRIDAYS FOR FUTURE in forming a massive “UNDER EIGHTEEN” block.
