Young Climate Movement / Fridays for Future Meeting Point
We are gathering on the corner of Madame Tussaud and Rokin. Meeting time: 12:30 PM. We will start marching no later than 1:30 PM.
The doors of the Dominicuskerk at Spuistraat 12 will open at 12:15 PM. We warmly welcome you and hope you’ll join us to start the day—whether with your parents, grandparents, or guardians.
We have a stage where a host will be present every fifteen minutes, inviting you to say something, sing, or read aloud. It’s an OPEN STAGE, so it’s first come, first served. Young people will be there to do face painting, and we’ll be making mini protest signs. You can use the restroom (for free), and we’ll have some lemonade for you—just bring your own cup.
At 12:55 PM, we’ll head outside and walk to the front of the march to join other young people from FRIDAYS FOR FUTURE in forming a massive “UNDER EIGHTEEN” block.

The climate crisis is a crisis for children. Children are hit hard by climate change, even though they have contributed the least to it and will live with the consequences the longest. At the same time, they have hardly any say in the decisions that shape their future. Will you join the protest with children?
Save the Children is setting up a space for parents, caregivers, and children next to the monument on Dam Square. Here, children can make their own signs expressing their wishes to carry during the march. We are also handing out wristbands with space for a phone number, making it easy for children and parents to find each other again.

Europe is burning, and heat records are tumbling one after another. Millions of people are being affected by the climate crisis. Meanwhile, oil and gas companies are raking in record profits, their shareholders are getting richer while they sleep, and they hop on private jets to France. It is outrageous, but the problem is solvable.
Taxation is the key. Policymakers must make the biggest polluters foot the bill for the climate crisis. After all, the world’s wealthiest 0.1% emit more CO2 in a single day than the poorest 50% do in an entire year. Taxing these extreme emissions would generate millions for the public treasury—funds that society could put to good use in the fight against climate change.
We are not alone in this demand: a majority of the Dutch public believes that politicians need to do more for the climate. Regardless of our backgrounds or ages, we all want a habitable planet and a livable future. That is why we are taking to the streets in huge numbers just before *Prinsjesdag* (Budget Day).

Leading the bloc is our XR boat, “Amersfoort aan Zee,” bearing a banner that reads “Stop fossiele subsidies”. Accompanying it are many rebels with flags and slogans, as well as the XR Block Brass Band.
Nature and the climate are inextricably linked. The use of fossil fuels is causing the Earth to warm, placing natural areas worldwide under increasing pressure. The serious consequences are being felt in the Netherlands, too. Drought, prolonged heat, and extreme weather are affecting forests, dunes, heathlands, and wetlands, putting birds, plants, and other wildlife under strain. At the same time, nature is one of our strongest allies in tackling the climate crisis. Forests, peatlands, coastal ecosystems, and seas store vast amounts of carbon, help retain water during droughts, and offer better protection against the impacts of extreme weather.
A healthy natural environment is essential not only for plants and animals but also for a livable future for humanity. That is why nature conservation organizations are joining the Climate March.
By phasing out our reliance on fossil fuels, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and investing in nature restoration, we protect what protects us: nature. Join us on September 12 and show that we can only tackle the climate crisis with a healthy, resilient natural world.

Gas prices are skyrocketing, and the Netherlands is facing a water shortage. Yet Google and Microsoft are building energy-guzzling data centers. Why? To train AI. Everything must make way so they can win the AI race and become extremely wealthy in the process. They’re choosing a future with more fossil fuels, fewer homes, and as many hot, bright, and loud data centers as possible. What do we get in return? AI clutter on the internet, tech companies that store and use our personal information to train their AI, and children growing up with chatbots as friends. No one asked for this, but Big Tech acts as if it’s unstoppable.
We’re not falling for that. We’re joining the Climate March and demanding a moratorium on new data centers and AI. This is how we’re taking back the initiative from tech companies: first, we’ll decide democratically what form future AI will take. Our commitment: it must not come at the expense of our environment or of what makes us human. Only then will we assess how many data centers are still needed.

Climate justice is not limited to reducing emissions. In Gaza military operations, using weapons supplied by the United States to Israel, have caused widespread environmental damage. This entails air, water, and soil pollution, the destruction of agricultural land, the collapse of infrastructure, and the accumulation of massive amounts of rubble.
These damages leave long-term environmental and health consequences that affect both people and nature.
Protecting the climate means protecting people and their right to a safe environment. Therefore, we cannot speak of climate justice while the foundations of life and the environment in Palestine continue to be destroyed.

Plastic pollutes from start to finish: its production releases enormous amounts of greenhouse gases. More than 99% of plastic is made from fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal. Once discarded, the mountain of plastic waste poisons our oceans and the natural world. It poisons us, too: microplastics are now everywhere—in our food, our clothing, our bloodstream, and even our brains.
We want clean air, clean oceans, and clean drinking water, not more disposable plastic junk. The responsibility lies with the major polluters who have been profiting from the throwaway economy for decades. That is why we demand: an end to the production of fossil-based plastic, the bill footed by the major polluters, and an end to our dependence on oil and gas.

To combat the climate crisis, we must leave fossil fuel reserves in the ground and limit energy consumption as much as possible. These are two things that run counter to the logic of capitalism, a system in which companies must constantly accumulate wealth and compete with one another for profit.
Another world is possible. But it won’t come about through superficial changes within the system. Climate change and capitalism both transcend international borders. The fight against climate change must therefore be linked to international solidarity—against the system and against all the other suffering it causes worldwide.
Unions, anti-fascists, anti-Zionists, and climate activists must join forces against the parasitic capitalist class, which—as long as it remains profitable—will try to extract every lump of coal and drop of oil from the earth.
